Best Headset for Zoom Meeting of 2022

Are you looking for the right headset for your ZOOM meetings? I’ve selected the best options for you to buy in 2022.

Even before the pandemic, a technologically advanced country like Japan was moving some of its employees to remote work, that is, they were working from home. And, of course, with the availability of video communication through programs such as ZOOM, staff control and workflow efficiency have increased. After all, the regular morning meetings and other business negotiations in large companies were not cancelled. And ZOOM was a great solution here.

It is also worth noting that ZOOM has been very effective as a platform for online training. Many countries around the world have chosen ZOOM to educate schoolchildren and students during periods of lockdown and limited attendance at schools, colleges, and universities.

But without a good headset, neither work nor learning will have the expected effect. That’s why buying the best headset is one of the main concerns of those who become involved in online meetings at ZOOM and other platforms.

Meetings at ZOOM: Why did I choose these headsets?

Meetings, negotiations, or training sessions in the ZOOM can go on for hours at a time. So one of the main criteria for my choice was the lightness and convenience of the headset. You won’t be wearing a gaming headset, which due to the specific requirements of gamers has the most bulky shape of all known headset types (not counting VR headsets).

In addition, headphone sound quality and selective microphone sensitivity are important. You should be able to hear your contacts clearly as well as your contacts should be able to understand your speech without interference. Headsets from Jabra, Cyber Acoustics, BlueParrott and others fully meet these important requirements.

Let’s talk a little bit about price. Let’s admit that for ZOOM meetings the headset does not require any special features, mainly quality, convenience and, as I think, minimalistic appearance are important. So I slightly downgraded the really powerful headset options because of the “too much” fancy stuff. Are they the best overall for ZOOM? Yes. Are they the best in terms of value for money? I’m not sure. I’m talking about such models as Poly – Blackwire 5220, BlueParrott B450-XT or Jabra Evolve 65.

Design. As I noted above, the design should be minimalistic but not to the detriment of the quality of communication. I intentionally did not include BTE headsets in the rating, as they can not fully correspond to the quality of normal communication in ZOOM. Therefore, the vast majority of the headsets in my rating are classic headsets, which are the most popular and convenient for online meetings.

Headset for Zoom Meeting FAQs

Do I need headphones with mic for Zoom?

Yes, because it’s the headset that gives you the freedom to communicate. Otherwise you have to use either a built-in microphone (which is of poor quality) or buy a separate microphone, which makes communicating during a meeting at Zoom a bit uncomfortable.

Do I need a microphone for Zoom?

A microphone is required when using the ZOOM on a PC. However, if you use a smartphone to call ZOOM, your gadget already has a built-in microphone and this is sufficient. In my article, I considered the option of full-fledged communication during online meetings via computer (desktop or laptop). Therefore, a headset is necessary here.

How do I setup my Zoom headset?

When you connect to the ZOOM, you will have a choice of communication methods: speaker and microphone. Select this option. Next, select your headset. That’s basically it.

How do I connect Bluetooth headset to Zoom?

The procedure is similar to connecting to the Zoom with a wired headset. First, your headset must be connected to your computer. After that, you will be given the choice of device for communication when you connect to ZOOM. Here you choose your wireless headset. That’s it, you have connected your Bluetooth headset to ZOOM.

My verdict

Evaluate your perspective on the headset you are going to buy. If you know that you are going to have a long conversation in ZOOM, as well as frequent video and online calls, then don’t spare money for an expensive quality headset. Spending $80, $100, or $150 should quickly pay for itself. However, if the meetings in ZOOM are a temporary phenomenon and in the future you are unlikely to communicate online on similar platforms, then budget models such as Sennheiser PC 8 USB or Logitech USB Headset H340 will be the best choice in your case.

The Internet and new technology have become part of my life and I can avidly study new trends to keep up with what's new. I can also play games, work with videos, conduct business (and not so much) negotiations, where the headset is actively used. So I have a lot to tell you and a lot to recommend.
